In a message preached by Dr. Holly Divine in our 2006 Anniversary Service, God said that He would do exceedingly abundantly more for Dayspring in 2007 than we could possibly ask or think, but none of us at Dayspring knew just how exceedingly abundantly more that would be- that is, until now!
Since the very beginning of Dayspring in August 1999, God has gone before us opening doors along the way, but in April of 2007 God opened a door that truly proved to be one of those "exceedingly abundant" blessings!
For eight years we had been meeting in a rented facility on 300-A East Arcadia Avenue when God opened the door for us to purchase the former VFW building located at 55 East Lee Wilson Stevens Drive. Brothers Melvin Baird and Ray Bochert were instrumental in helping us purchase the new facility which we planned to use as an activities center/fellowship hall.
We quickly began making rennovations on the building, and renamed it, "The Melvin Baird Dayspring Activities Center". (We named it after Bro. Melvin Baird who went home to be with the Lord before the purchase was finalized.)
Then on July 25th, 2007 a fire at the 300-A East Arcadia Avenue facility forced us to temporarily move to The DAC. How thankful we were that God had gone before us and prepared a place for us to meet, and we never missed a service!
Then something began to happen- The DAC started feeling like "home." God's presence was so real in every service. Our attendances began to soar, but more importantly, people began to get saved, baptized, and filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost!
It was then we realized that God had gone before us and opened the door for us to purchase The DAC not to be used solely as an activities building, but as our new church home! For the first time in eight years we own our own church building!
But God wasn't through opening doors. In September we purchased a new 5 ton A/C unit for The DAC. In October new carpet was laid throughout the sanctuary, and we are in the process of purchasing new chair pews. Construction has begun on a new Educational Wing that will house a brand new KidZone Children's Sanctuary, "The Burn" Youth Room, and three Sunday School Classrooms, and if that wasn't enough, God opened another door for us to purchase additional property adjoining and to the north of our blacktopped parking lot! PRAISE THE LORD!
God's Word is true, and as the congregation of Dayspring can testify, "He is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ever think or imagine!"
